Be careful what you wish for...

Yesterday and today I have been subbing as the secretary out at the Jr. High. Yesterday was probably the most boring day of my life. I was the only one in the office, and I had nothing better to do than just sit around and play games online. Every so often a teacher would come in and ask how it was going and if anything exciting has happened? Every time I would say no but I wish something would happen.

Well the last hour of the day my wish came true. I was sitting at the desk and all of a sudden a kid came in, he seemed fine, he did not seem mad or anything. But he came in and said, " I just threatened to kill a teacher, so... I think it would be best if I did not show up to school tomorrow", and I was thinking WHAT THE HECK DO I SAY TO THAT! So he started to walk away and I was like wait... who did you threaten, and what is your name? He told me both and I was still not sure what to do so I said okay. He left and I wrote a note down on a post it note. It was probably not what I needed to do but I really did not know.

Anyway.... A teacher friend of mine came into the office after the bell rang for school to be out, and I showed it to her and she just laughed and was like are you serious. So she went to the other teacher that was threatened and told him, and he laughed. I thought the teacher would of known he was threatened but he did not. So they said they would take care of if because, no body really knew what to do.

So I came into work today and the two people who take care of disciplinary things were here. And a little while later, a few teachers were in here talking with them about what happened yesterday. Then another teacher brings the kid who threatened the teacher in to the office and just made him sit there. So there was a lot of secret talking in office, people coming in and out of the room. And I was just sitting at the desk trying to look busy. Then I got called into the office, and I had to write down what exactly happened yesterday, what I was told. Then I was to sign and date it. I did then some other girls who overheard him say the threat came in and had to do the same thing.

So the kid who was in trouble just sat in the office. And the disciplinary people came out and said when David (I'm not sure the name he said) gets here let me know. So about five or so minutes later. A cop walks in! I was so confused because the teacher just called the cop by the first name so when he said he was coming I was thinking it was the kids dad. I was wrong. So the teacher and the cop talked for a second and the teacher said that the mom could not come and get the kid, so the only other way was to have a police officer take him home. It was weird.

But I wanted excitement and I guess I got it. But other than that, the phone has rang more today, so I get to do something other than sit here and stare at the computer.

The Dash

I heard this poem over the summer and I really liked it.
I was reading a letter a friend wrote to me, and in the letter she said how glad she was that
I was part of her "Dash".

So here it is....

The Dash Poem
by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Its still fall!

Life has been exceptionally boring for awhile, therefore I have had nothing to blog about. Nothing has changed fall is still here and I LOVE IT! Katy comes home soon and that is exciting.... and I go to St. Louis on Monday with Tacy for a Doctors appointment. That's really all I have to say.

ITS FALL!!!

I LOVE FALL and at exactly 5:18 yesterday afternoon it became official. In celebration of this fantastic occasion Sophie and I had a party, well not a real party because we have nobody to hang out with other than each other. We started watching the fist season of The OC, we had fresh margs (non alcoholic of course) and chili fires because on the show they always have fresh margs and chili fries. It maybe was not the most fallish party but we had fun!

A few days ago Tacy and I bought a lot of different apples to test so we could decide which apple was our favorite. Mine was Honeycrisp, usually Granny Smith would win but the one we had was old so it lost to Honeycrisp. It was a fun fall activity, because apples are fallish...right...?

Anyway...

On occasion when my mom says she is going to cook something for something I usually know that I will end up helping her or doing it for her. I'm not complaining because I went to school to cook so I enjoy it. Well my mom need to make Apple Crisp for about 50 people. At school we cooked the food for the whole school so I was use to large quantity baking, so naturally I was a good pick for this project. So I got up around 8: 15 ish to start helping her, she had a meeting so she left and I started peeling. Luckily we borrowed a peeler from Ruth that peels and slices the apples so it saved a lot of time. We finally finished around 12:30. We ended up making 3 9x13 pans and two giant turkey roster pans. It looked good as far as I could tell so lets hope it tastes good!

Last but not least...

This last picture is a picture Tacy drew for me a couple days ago. We were discussing how I have this strange obsession with Roosters so we were looking around and I discovered I have a ton of fish treasures as well as a ton of rooster treasures......So she created this lovely creature for me.. Its a roosterfish. Also the fish treasures are all rainbow colored...

Saturday Fun!

Well... Kim and Kaycee are gone..They have been for about a little less than a month...I miss them TONS!!!

But Tacy and I have been having fun so its not to terrible. Today we went to Burlington to Weird Harolds, we ended up discovering that you could paint your own pottery there, so we each picked out an item and we painted it, then they take it and put it in there kiln and glaze it so it turns out like a cute piece of pottery. They will be finished in about a week so we will see the finished project next weekend hopefully.

After that, we came home and Sophie and I watched Twilight. Soph has had this craving to watch Twilight for the longest time so we decided to watch it together because the first time I saw it I was not a huge fan. She was convinced that if I watch it a second time I would like it better..alas..she was true.

That is really all that has happened since my last post, sorry its not much.

P.S How do you like my new background?

Summer of Fun!

This summer has been probably one of the funnest I have had in a long time. When I got home from school in April I was convinced my summer would stink until Tacy and Sophie got home. But alas... I was wrong... when I got home I started hanging out with Sage and with Sage came two of the interns that worked for my dad. They are pretty much the best thing that has happened to me this summer. Not that having Tacy and Sophie home is not amazing but before they got here I had people to hang out with. Here are picture of the summer so far...maybe more to come....but don't hold me to it.....Most of them are just random pictures from, Sages wedding, me visiting all of them at work, and Fourth of July.

This one is for Karlie!

David Archuleta is in town!!! My friend Karlie is pretty much in love with him, so when I saw him last night at the pageant I immediately thought Karlie is going to freak out. But after the show he was completely bombarded with people so I left because I had nothing for him to sign, I had no camera and it was to dark to use my cell phone. I hoped that he would come into the Fudge Factory today so I could have opportunity to get a picture and have him sign something for her. So I woke up and figured..yeah right he won't come in..So I decided to go into work early and I was about ready to leave, when Joan came in and said "there is a lady here that wants to get pretzels and turtle tails for David Archuleta" she knew we were closed but she said they were already running let, and asked if she could come in and get some stuff. So I thought SWEET! The lady came in and I asked if there was any way David could come in and she said he really really wants to but he is touring a home right now..but I will see what I can do.. So about ten min later she came back with him! I got him to sign a Fudge Factory card for Karlie (He spelt her name wrong but that's okay) and obviously I got a picture of me with him so everyone can believe me.

It was insanely nice of him to come in, they were supposed to be in Burlington at 9:30 but it was already 9:45, the lady with him said he just didn't want to leave, he was having such a fun time touring the homes that he just kept saying "do we have time for just one more".

Karlie Kay! I hope you enjoyed this!

Busy!

Sorry that I have not updated since Sages wedding. I have been busy doing stuff. I have been helping the interns with the pageant, shopping, relaxing, and working. I have pictures to post but I don't really have the time right now to put them up. But I promise I will by August. I know that is a couple weeks away but I have to take charge of the pageant the last two weeks so I will have no time to update, and by that time Tacy and Sophie will be home so I can blog about them being back! I am so excited!

Funness!

Yesterday was Sages bridal shower and It was fun! After that me, Sage, Kim, Kaycee (that is the right way to spell it), Lacey, Amber, Bryce, Kaylea (Sages cousin), and Alexa and her sister Natasha all went to the interns house for somewhat of a bachelorette party. It was a lot of fun first everyone danced on the roof for a while, then we had some sparkling grape juice, and to finish it off we watched a movie.

Then everyone left except for me, Sage, Kim, and Kaycee. We had some more sparkling grape juice, it was raspberry flavored, and it was so good! We had a pretty crazy night doing crazy things and it was a lot of fun!

Nothing new..

Well as usual I am lacking in the blog department. My life is just so boring these days. I wake up, go to work, go home, watch tv, go to bed. It's lame. But because I give into pressure, I'm posting a new blog.

Like I said nothing is all that new. Sages wedding is coming up so I am going to her bridal shower today, that should be fun. Last night we hung out with Kim and Kasey Barnes (I probably spelt Kaseys name wrong) they are the interns at NRI. We had a lot of fun, we watched "When a Stranger Calls" it was intense, then we just stayed up taking until one in the moring. With the interns here my life is a little more exciting because I actually have someone to hang out with.

Speaking of hanging out with people. TACY AND SOPHIE COME HOME IN A MONTH!!!!! I am so happy! I can't wait! I miss them so much!

The pageant starts next week and I'm excited for it to be over. I think that is all the updates so far in my life, sorry its a short blog but it happens...

Should it stay or should it go?

Nathan wants every ones opinion about his hair. We were in the car the other day and he realized how red his beard was. So he wants to know should he shave off the beard or the head?

Rhubarb!

Ruth gave us some rhubarb at the beginning of the month and we made rhubarb crisp. It was way good! Well a few weeks ago they had some more rhubarb for sale at the store so we bought some and made another crisp. Nathan came over and helped me make it, we also made some chex mix because we were in a mood to make things. Both treats were really yummy!!

Here is the recipe for Rhubarb Crisp, I doubled it and put it in a 9x13 inch pan.

1 cup Flour
3/4 cup Oatmeal
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup Butter, melted
4 cups Diced Rhubarb
1/2 pkg Dry Strawberry Jello-O

Sauce:

3/4 cup White Sugar
2 tbs Cornstarch
1 cup Water
Vanilla

Preheat oven to 350

To make crust, mix flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly. Press 1/2 of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x9 inch pan.

Cover with chopped rhubarb, then sprinkle with dry Jell-O. In a medium saucepan, combine white sugar, cornstarch and water. Cook until thickened and clear. Add vanilla. Pour over rhubarb pat remaining crumbs on top.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Graduating!

Just so you all know, if I was attending my graduation ceremony it would be tomorrow! So tomorrow is my official graduation.

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Last Saturday my dad taught me how to pour out a patch a fudge. It was quite heavy but I was able to do it without burning myself.

This Saturday Eli Smith had his first day of work at the Fudge Factory. He was taught how to stir the fudge on the table. It is a really hard process and takes a lot of practice to end up with a perfect loaf of fudge. His first batch he stirred on the table was plain chocolate. He did pretty well for the first time ever doing it. He did not make a huge mess, but my dad did have to step in at the end to finish it up. A couple batches later he started to get the hang of it. It will still take practice but he still did pretty well. I told him I would take pictures so I could put a blog up about it and I did.

Flowers!

As usual this is a late post. For Mothers Day Nathan had the idea to get Mom some flowers. He heard from Bob and Tom, that proflowers.com was having this deal that you could get two hundred blooms for a really good price (my mom reads this so I can not say how much), they arrived Friday afternoon and I put them in some water and a couple of hours later they bloomed quite nicely. Katy wanted me to put pictures up but I am not a good picture taker so you will have to live with what you get. Also Tacy wanted me to take pictures of the tulips she planted while she was here so there are some of those as well. Enjoy!

FINISHED!

I am done with school FINALLY! My last day was on April 23rd. I graduated with my Certificate in Culinary Arts. The next graduation ceremony was in May, but I wanted to get home so I'm not attending an official graduation. And last week I received my certificate in the mail.

Sage flew out to Utah to drive home with me. I planned on surprising my mom, I told her I was
leaving on Monday the 27th, but we really left on Saturday the 25th. So we arrived home Sunday afternoon right when my parents left for church. Nathan and Bryan helped me unload my car. I just sat around the house waiting until five for my parents to get home from church. When they got home my mom was really surprised she actually just stood speechless for a while, and then said "You lied to me!". It was funny.

That's really all that is new. Which is why I have not undated in 1,013 hours, and some odd minutes. I am back to working at the fudge factory, which is pretty boring these days because it is not that busy. So on a great occasion Shannon comes and visits me and during this time we discuss the latest excitement in our lives. Which is currently the movie Bride Wars. WE LOVE IT! It is such a funny movie, you all should watch it sometime.

That is all the news I have for the day, and probably for the next few days!

Good Times....

Okay first, This is really long and I apologize if there are any typos, its almost 11 and I am sleepy. Second, all the pictures are at the end, and they are not in the same order with the stories.
Wednesday I had a friend from Provo come up to see me, and we went and hung out at the gateway. We met up with her mom, sister and brother. We went to the planetarium and saw a 3D under the sea movie. It was really fun, after that we ate and just walked around the gateway. We went to sur la table (a kitchen store) and I LOVE LOVE LOVED it. I could probably spend a ton on money there.
Friday night I spent the night at my friend Karlies house. Both of her parents, brother, and foreign exchange student were going to be gone Friday night, and her mother did not want her home alone so she asked me to stay the night. We went out to eat at Costa Vida, then we came home and made a lemon meringue pie for my grandpas birthday the next day. Then we stayed up watching movies.
Nothing to exciting happened between Friday and Monday. But on Monday we had no school, but a few kids in the class,Vanessa and Karlie, had to practice for skills USA (a competition at school), so they came in and practiced for that , and I went in so I could make some sauces I needed to make, in order to be done with the class. After we were done me, Vanessa, and Karlie decided to go to Wingers for lunch. Vanessa decided to wear my chef hat through lunch, as well has her sunglasses. It was great.
Now Today......Today was a lame day until about 5:30. I got the kitchen this morning and everything was going good. I was planning on taking my math test, so I could test out of culinary math and not have to take it anymore, after school. I started to get really nervous for my test. I was so sure I was not going to do good, so I was really stressing out. I was not in a bad mood, I was just worried about my test. At the end of school Lester (our catering manager) had a meat order come in, and on this order was a salmon. A actual Salmon, it was GROSS! But he found in humorous that I was creeped out by it, so he started taunting me with it. It was gross. Anyway, when school was over over, I went up to the math room, and told the lady that I wanted to take the test, and she said math is over for the day, I was like okay when can I take it, and she said come back tomorrow, I asked when? She said whenever. Can i come back at the same time, and she said no, math will be over. I said well I am in class from 7- 2:30 everyday, is there any time I can come after that. She said, no, can your teacher just let you leave for an hour and a half to take the test. I was like whatever that is fine. So I left all annoyed, and whatnot. As I was driving to my grandparents house I realized that the school offered night classes, so I called the school asked if they had math at night, then told them my story. And the guy said Yeah, come on in tonight between 4:30- 7:00 and you can take the test. So I went to my grandparents house and made them stew. I cut my finger cutting celery, and earlier I was just telling my teacher how much I love cutting celery because it is so much safer than cutting carrots.
I left the house and back to the school to take my test. So I went upstairs to the math room...and guess who it is...the same lady from 2:30 telling me to leave class for an hour and a half tomorrow to take the test. So she said, can I help you. I said yes, can I PLEASE take my test. She said, well you really want to take it now..... I was like YES, I have already practiced with the pretest, she said..who gave you the pre test, I said you did! and she said oh yea...well....I said can I take it? and said said WELL I'M NOT SURE YOU"LL PASS, BUT HERE YA GO! and she gave me the test. I was so mad, I can't believe she was being so dumb about giving me the test. So I sat down to take the test at 4:50, finished the test (she said to plan an hour and a half to two hours to finish) around 5:20, handed it in and said, when will I know if I passed, she looked at me and said can you come back tomorrow? I thought, are you dumb, there is not one paper here for you to grade but mine, you can tell I was anxious to get it over with, and you want me to come back tomorrow. Then she said...well...do you want to know now.... I was like yeah if you don't mined. It took her like 3 min to grade the dumb thing. I was out of the class room by 5:35. I ended up passing the test with a 90, I was so so so so happy, and I just wanted to throw something at the dumb math lady.
(again I apologize for any typos)

Oops I did it again...

First of all this is the second time typing this. I typed it all out and hit publish post, and all of a sudden it said "this page has expired", so I hit back and everything was gone, and my computer did not save it.

Okay sorry I have not blogged in a while, nothing really blog worthy has happened since then, but I will share what has happened since then.

I was moved out of bakery at school, and as a result I was put into hot foods

I have made a lot of fun food including: sweet and sour pork, chicken slavaki (chicken with a cucumber yogurt sauce), eggs benedict, reuben casserole, potato asparagus soup, friendship break, salsa, chips, chicken enchiladas.

I received two things in the mail yesterday. A package from my mom, and a wedding announcement.

I went to my cousins fiances bridal shower

I hit a bird

I had coldstone, and went out to eat at subway and goodwood.

One day I drank 128 oz of water. My water bottle at school says 32 oz on it and I filled it up four times because I was so thirsty,

Tacy helped me make computer not so slow.

I learned that my mom is flying sage out to drive home with me at the end of April.

I helped my cousin color the back of her head. It was a very fun experience, I was worried I was going to screw up somehow.

That is pretty much it for now. I can't promise there will be another post very soon, I'm not the greatest at keeping my blog up to date. But I will try.

Oh the weather outside is DELIGHTFUL!

Well this morning I awoke to snow on the ground. It continued to snow all day long, and not just light snow, big heavy snow. So when I got home me and Stephanie attempted to shovel the driveway. All we got done was the sidewalk, then we started to play in the snow and it was way fun. Then after we got inside I decided I wanted to build a snowman so I did...Look!

I don't konw if you can tell, but this is the result of it snowing all day long. This is what my car looked like after school today.

Crazy....

I did not intend on writing more than one blog today, but it happens. So I was just in my room at my aunts house and my aunt had a friend over, and she was showing her friend the house and they got to my room and her friend asked me, What is with the Tuna thing? I said well its my nickname, and then she told me about her daughters friend that had the same nickname. My license plate at the the time says tuna 89. So her friend was telling me that her daughter saw my license plate and was like oh my gosh, Nate( her daughters friend) was born in 89 too. So she took a picture of it and sent it to her friend is is currently on his mission in Illinois. So it all fit together perfectly he is in Illinois, his nickname is tuna, and he was born in 89. I also thought it was funny that somebody out there that I don't even know has a picture of my license plate.

Sorry

Sorry the last blog is set up weird. My computer is slow so I do not want to change it.

My trip to the burg.....

x

I went up to Rexburg last weekend for Tacys birthday. I had a lot of fun, we hung out with her roomates, Sophie and Rodney. We went out to eat for an early birthday dinner at Snake Bite witch was AMAZING! Me and Tacy also tried giving me a mowhawk. It turned very interesting.
